Tooth-Colored Dental Fillings, Inlays, Onlays & Crowns
As part of any visit to our Tucson dental office, Dr. Jay Lopez will thoroughly examine your teeth for any sign of decay or excessive wear or cracks in the enamel. We may recommend x-rays so that we can see inside and between your teeth. If we spot any cavities, we will recommend different options for restoring the tooth to full function.
- If the cavity is in the very early stages, we may attempt remineralization treatment. Learn why people get cavities and their prevention.
- If the cavity is small, a simple composite filling may be all that is required. Dr. Lopez will expertly match the color of the composite to blend with the rest of your tooth and surrounding teeth.
- Sometimes a porcelain inlay (porcelain filling is preferred), and sometimes a porcelain onlay that fills the cavity and covers part of the crown of the tooth will be the optimal choice. Dr. Lopez will provide expert guidance and explain the advantages of the porcelain restoration should this type provide advantages.
- If decay is advanced, you may need a dental crown, or root canal and crown treatment to preserve your tooth. Please read Dr. Lopez’s more extensive article about Dental Crowns.
The goal always is to eliminate active disease and restore the strength of the tooth. By using today’s highest quality dental materials, Dr. Lopez also can aesthetically restore your tooth to pristine natural appearance.
