Tucson Invisalign Dentist

A growing number of adult patients are coming to Dr. Lopez for Invisalign treatment. “Not just teens are seeking teeth alignment and more esthetic smiles,” says Tucson dentist Jay Lopez. “Today many adults who never had orthodontic treatment in the past or who need retreatment are attracted to the benefits of Invisalign technology, which makes their treatment easy and socially more acceptable. There are several benefits, which you will read below, but the primary attraction is the nearly invisible nature of Invisalign appliances.”

Our goal is to educate patients about what is in their best interest for long-term oral health and achieving the beautiful smile they have always wanted. It is also our goal to make sure all patients are fully informed and comfortable with their treatment decisions.

Dr. Lopez offers a free initial Invisalign consultation. If you would like to know what is possible for you, please call for this complimentary appointment, during which Dr. Lopez will evaluate your mouth for orthodontic treatment, determine if Invisalign is appropriate for you, answer your questions, and quote the fee for your custom Invisalign treatment in his office. You will then have the opportunity to consider this information before making a decision to accept treatment.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign consists of a series of computer generated clear aligning trays that fit over the upper and lower teeth. The aligners are customized for your mouth, and you will wear them at least 22 hours a day. Approximately every two weeks you will replace the aligners you are wearing with the next set of aligners in your series. Each new set of aligners will move your teeth a bit more into ideal position.

The process begins with a free consultation during which Dr. Lopez will examine your mouth and determine if Invisalign is appropriate for you. He will explain any alternative or additional treatments he judges to be in your best interest. After he outlines the approximate duration of your treatment and cost, you will decide if you would like to Dr. Lopez to initiate this treatment.

If you accept treatment, Dr. Lopez will prescribe a series of aligners based on a 3D model of your mouth, and an Invisalign lab will fabricate your custom trays. When your trays arrive at our office, Dr. Lopez will review with you the details of wearing and caring for your aligners, as well as when to changes to each new set of aligners. Approximately every six weeks, you will be scheduled to visit our office so Dr. Lopez can evaluate the progress of your treatment and determine if any adjustments should be made.

Your treatment will be custom designed to create optimal tooth spacing for aesthetic appearance and an optimal bite for best chewing function. Your optimal spacing will provide you with easy access to all surfaces of your teeth for thorough brushing and flossing. As your treatment progresses, you will enjoy a more beautiful smile, visible through your aligners.

Is Invisalign right for me?

Most of the permanent teeth must be erupted, which means Invisalign can be used in adolescence and adulthood but not earlier. Invisalign technology is most effective for treating minor to moderate tooth crowding and spacing issues. If you have teeth that are significantly mal-positioned or greatly turned in the wrong direction, other types of braces will be recommended, but you may be able to have Invisalign aligners after initial corrections have been made. Dr. Jay Lopez is a provider of other types of orthodontics, including custom designed wires and brackets.

What are the benefits of Invisalign compared to traditional braces?

  • NEARLY INVISABLE:
Because they are clear, Invisalign aligners are less noticeable than traditional bracket and wire braces. For most patients this is the most motivating aspect of selecting Invisalign treatment.
  • REMOVABLE:
Aligners are easy to insert and remove. You will remove the aligners for eating and cleaning your mouth.

It’s easier to brush and floss your teeth because the trays are removable. With thorough home oral hygiene, you’ll be able to prevent dental caries and gum inflammation.

Because the trays are removed when eating, you can enjoy more foods. With traditional braces, patients need to avoid hard foods that can dislodge or break brackets and wires, and also avoid sticky foods that will adhere to brackets and wires and be difficult to clean away.

  • COMFORTABLE:
The irritation of brackets and wires on adjacent soft tissue of the mouth can be painful and require use of orthodontic wax and palliative rinses. Invisalign aligners are smooth and do not irritate the soft tissue of the mouth. Although you are likely to experience some tenderness and tingling for a couple of days after each new aligner is inserted, you will be much more comfortable than with traditional braces. Also, patients typically speak normally while wearing the aligners. This is not always the case when the soft tissue of the mouth is irritated by traditional brackets and wires.

How long will it take to straighten my teeth with Invisalign?

Many patients complete treatment in 12-18 months. The duration of your treatment will depend on how many sets of trays (i.e., how much movement) will be required to align your teeth optimally and whether you wear your aligners the prescribed minimum 22 hours per day. Dr. Lopez will be able to estimate your treatment duration after planning your treatment.

What does Invisalign cost?

The typical course of Invisalign treatment does not cost more than traditional braces. The cost of your treatment will be based on the complexity of your case, how long your treatment will take, and your orthodontic insurance coverage. We are committed to providing affordable dental care, including installment plans and CareCredit financing for families and individuals operating on any budget.
